SoundHound has officially created a brand new app, OK Hound, which is more like the digital assistants Siri, Cortana, and Google Now. Previously, you had to install a separate app in order to speak to the digital personal assistant, but now that SoundHound is creating standard features into the iOS app.
Details of the app had appeared when the company posted a YouTube video on its official page showing how the ‘Ok Hound’ feature is to work. The feature is available in the verison 7.1 of the SoundHound app and it was released to the market in May 17. With the release came a couple of other features, with the most notable one being the voice command feature.
What to expect from OK Hound in SoundHound v7.1
OK Hound allows users to perform quite a number of actions including identifying a song without having to press any buttons on the app –you only have to launch the app in this case. The new OK Hound feature also integrates with Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, and other services to add interesting features like creating Pandora Radio, adding tracks to a playlist, and creating new lists. Another feature worth mentioning is that SoundHound will let you seek out some trivia related to the songs and their artists.
Since OK Hound isn’t a native iOS app, it won’t be available for use as easily as SIRI which is always running and can be activated just by saying ‘Hey Siri’. To activate ‘OK Hound’ you’ll have to open the SoundHound app and then use the ‘OK Hound’ command to do whatever you want. This definitely brings a new wave of innovation to the already competitive voice recognition market.
